• Welcome! Glad you’re here!

    Welcome to my own little piece of cyber space. If you're a newcomer to this blog, make sure to bookmark it and visit again soon.

    My name is Gerri Milkovie and I am the owner and photographer of GEM Portrait Artistry & Design. My studio is located in Lake Orion, MI. For those who are unfamiliar,that is in Northern Oakland County surrounded by Rochester, Oxford, Auburn Hills, Oakland Twp., Clarkston and Romeo. I am also blessed to have clients who travel from the Metro Detroit area, Southeast Michigan and throughout the midwest. I have been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember and I feel so fortunate to have turned that passion into a flourishing business. Not many people get to do what they love and I am grateful to be one of those lucky few. My husband Matt & I recently had our first child; a son, Wyatt and he is our greatest joy. You'll see him here from time to time. He even has his own blog now-{Check it out in the blogroll above}

    This blog is packed with all kinds of good stuff including sneak peeks of recent sessions, fun games & upcoming studio contests and announcements. I hope you enjoy the various posts and invite you to leave any comments that you may have on each post!

Cider mill insanity with sweet li’l Ben {Oakland County Child Photographer}

I had so much fun with Ben at the cider mill this weekend! It’s always so great to see Ben and his family (especially when there are doughnuts involved. haha). doesn’t hurt thatthis little cutie is so easy to photograph. Over the years, I have had the good fortune to spend many occasions with this family, and it is almost like I am a part of their clan! it’s lucky for me that they know me so well and that they are so kind, since apparently, I am going CRAZY!! lol. Seriously, as well as I know this family and for as long as I have been photographing Ben, my mind just kept slipping. I called this poor little guy the wrong name the whole session even though I caught myself and continued to correct myself the whole day! I opened my mouth and the wrong name would come out! After trying to explain myself for the tenth time, grandma just said “gerri, you’re weird!”. lol. ’nuff said. Yes, apparently I am. that is definitely the impression that I like to leave my clients with. Awesome…:)
ps-you will be happy to know that my mind and my mouth are now back in sync , so I know exactly who I am speaking to.;)

Little miss “E” ~ growing by the minute…{Oakland County Child Photographer}

I seriously love this little girl!! She is just the sweetest, and after photographing her for the past four years now, I always look forward to seeing her again. As I told her mom, the sessions are always fun, but it’s the resulting images that I really love going through. She is just full of different expressions and looks. I am having so much fun watching her grow, and I know that you will all love these images too.
Enjoy!

Baby “H” {Oakland County Newborn Photographer}

I am always so excited to be a part of the first few days of a baby’s life, but it can be even more special when I get to meet the new addition to a friend’s family. This little guy was a blessing for a former co-worker of mine and her husband and he is absolutely precious. Can’t wait to have him in the studio again soon.

Candice Rich - I must say baby “H” is absolutely adorable. I love the images captured. Great job!

Beautiful Gardner Family {Oakland County Maternity Photographer}

Had the opportunity to photograph this awesome family prior to the birth of their third baby, and with two adorable little guys, who wouldn’t want a houseful.:)  I so look forward to creating many amazing images for this family and their beutiful children for years to come.

Hope to see you soon!

Sweet baby Noah~3 months old {Oakland County Baby Photographer}

Little Noah and his family have become some of my favorite clients!  (I know-I have a lot of favorites, but I am blessed to meet the most awesome people in this job.)  Plus, at his first appointment we figured out that Noah’s daddy works at the same company as my hubby so his mommy and I have a mutual understanding of this yucky time of year.:(  Look at that sweet face though-if anything can make “busy season” go more quickly, it would be this adorable little guy! I mean, seriously-check out those cheeks! ;)

…til next time
